I'm a parent. How can I register my child if they don't have an email (or I don't want to use it!)?

At Hands On Atlanta, we understand that safety and security are of the utmost importance. We especially understand the importance of helping keep children secure! So, although our system relies on all volunteer having an email address, you might not want to share your child's, or they might not have one themselves.

That's why we have an easy-to-use recommendation for when you want to register your child for an Opportunity with Hands On Atlanta, but not use an email. To register your child in a situation where they don't have an email, or you don't want to use theirs, we recommend using email aliases!

Email aliases are modified, actual email addresses, that Hands On Atlanta will recognize as a new, unique logins and send emails to your real email address. We recommend using this method because it will ensure that important updates related to the Opportunity are received and will allow you to have a profile for your child and any future registrations.

Each email provider handles aliases in different ways. We recommend checking the resources from your email provider, as there are some differences per provider. Here are some common solutions:

For G-Mail:

Use "+" and then add your child's first & last name in this format:

[email protected] > [email protected]

For Yahoo:

Set up an alias in your yahoo email settings. Here is the Yahoo resource that will explain this: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/send-messages-delete-extra-email-address-sln15953.html

For Outlook:

Set up an alias in your Outlooks settings. Here is their resource on how to do this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/add-or-remove-an-email-alias-in-outlook-com-459b1989-356d-40fa-a689-8f285b13f1f2

For any others, we recommend checking the Help section of your email provider and searching for "alias"
